About Me
- Darnell
- I am now firmly planted in my 30's and have been married 7 years and have two kids with epilepsy. My husband, kids and I all share one or two genetic deletions that appear to affect us all very differently. I adore my family and the challenges that come along with them. God has been a strong influence in our lives and truly directs our paths.

New order of business
So first off, here is my new adventure, Swag Bucks. So if the widget shows up like it is supposed to, anyone can see my swag bucks progress, and should be able to click a link and activate their own account in swag bucks. Not the quickest way to earn real spending money, but a legitimate slow and steady way to earn a little while you navigate the web.
Next order of business....
Bariatric surgery. I have resolved that for myself, my best option is to go dramatic. This following Monday I have my first appointment with a surgeon. I will give more details as I go. If you have had bariatric surgery, feel free to comment and give your opinions and suggestions.

WOW
So it has been a while since I have been on here, but for good reason. I now officially have two children with epilepsy and both share a chromosomal deletion I just found out I have. My poor son has mine and another one that my husband has missing. Guess our baby making days are better off being over.
Anyway...I have successfully (or unsuccessfully) regained all weight previously lost. Now up to a new all time high of 270#. I am now two days away from my third medical weight loss class so that I may be a candidate for bariatric surgery. My father had a full gastric bypass almost two years ago now. Had a bunch of complications, but is now well. He was such a bad diabetic though that I figure this is likely why he struggled so badly. He states now he is happy and would not have changed his decision. I now am looking at either the gastric bypass or lap band procedure. Thursday I should know more.
I am struggling with getting excersize now that I am essentially a stay at home mother. No dog to be forced to walk, and no gas money to get anywhere other than the "have to be" places. Too easy to make up 101 excuses. I know this, I feel this, and feel miserable. Why is it just so difficult to make anything happen? Thanks to Kru Meier at Itsera family fitness, he taught me what I need to know, how to do it, etc. I just can't seem to get my life under control right now.

Baby fever
So hubby and I are thinking about baby number 3. Will try june and july, but until them, I have some work to do. Gained 25 lbs since January, all work and no play or excercise. Guess this means I better get to the Y and get my work out on so that I can control my "Buffalo-ness" as I head into pregnancy. I just hope this one doesnt result in doctors criticizing me yet again for being overweight.

re-start
So this is why I started this blog....to be real with myself and any followers. I did good last year, lost about 50# and then kinda fell off the wagon. Gained 12 pounds back, this is where I am at now. 222. EVIL-ness right? Just the story of life I suppose. I decided to run the Bolder Boulder on Memorial day, but have not ran since October. NOT good when I am supposed to run with a friend and cousin. So even though I feel like I am sitting in lingo, I know only I can fix this. So here I go again. New year, new start. Deep breath.
Admittedly having a HARD time with this. I am now working 2 part time jobs, well, really 3 part time jobs. Trying to nagotiate schedules between myself, the kids and husband make working out and meal prep nearly impossible. So I guess I have to go back to super simple convenients foods...that claim to be healthy. Yogurt, soup, crackers? You know. All the boring stuff. It will be ok though. I am woman, hear me ROAR!

Lovely
So on Sept 24th my son started having seizures...so now we are off and running on doctor appointments, testing and other not so fun stuff. Kevin is being such an awesome trooper and is acting as though nothing ever happened and nothing ever will, same old carefree now six year old. I LOVE THIS BOY!!!!!!
As for me, I feel as though I am barely keeping it together. Since breaking my foot the end of May I am lucky to go to kickboxing once or twice a week. Motivation seems to have flown out the window, food cravings and binge eating has taken over again and to top it all off, I have gained 5 lbs back! NOOOOO! So since it is now shortly after midnight on Sunday morning....I am trying to start new TODAY and get back on track. "I can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens me!" I CAN DO IT! All good and bad things seem to have to come to an end. So hopefully this is the end of the bad run for a while. A six month break should be MORE than enough. Anyone else deal with this trap before? Have you been successful getting back on the wagon? Where are you on your journey now and any words of encouragement?

New stuff!
So the last three months, since actively being on here I have fallen off the wagon. I haven't regained any weight, but haven't lost either. The dreaded "Platau" has found me I suppose. So I decided that I wanted to start getting myself ready for the Bolder Boulder that is about 9 months away now. In order to do this I resolved to getting up at five am (if I am not already up and gone to work) to jog along side dad (who is now living with me as of a month and a half ago). He is a bit of a speedwalker so it works well for a nice slow jog. This morning we did about thirteen blocks. I feel quite accomplished and satisfied with my work this morning because I felt as though I could have kept going a bit longer. Now I just need to get my eating under control again and I should start dropping some weight again. My new goal is to be down another 40 lbs by Christmas! That will take me to about 175! It is SO SO SO nice to think of actually being at that number. I think it will feel SO much better.

Rocky Road
Nope, not the ice cream...at least this time. Last couple of months have been so overwhelming that I am not sure that I am really living it, or rather just watching from the outside. Regardless, it has been a long road. I broke my foot the end of May, spent all of June out of kickboxing. Now I get to try to jump back in, although still swelling and painful. No money for medications so Asthma is starting to spiral out of control. All I can say is this is life. I must be able to teach myself and move forward. Stay on board and still run after my goals. If anyone has suggestions or sympathy, send them my way ;) Hope everyone is enjoying their summer and keeping active, healthy and productive.
GOD BLESS!
